Ashleigh Lutz-Nelson

We have some exciting announcements to share with you. Snow Leopard Conservancy is beginning a new chapter with a new Executive Director!

Dear Friends,

I am thrilled that Ms. Ashleigh Lutz-Nelson has been selected as the Conservancy’s incoming Executive Director. Before joining our team in April 2020 as the Vice President, Ashleigh held leadership roles with AZA-accredited Zoos and with the Felid Taxon Advisory Group, leading wild cat health, welfare, and conservation initiatives. She joined the Conservancy at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic’s shelter-in-place order where she demonstrated optimism, adaptability, creativity, and perseverance in her leadership, as we worked together to lead the organization through this challenging time. Ashleigh has unwaveringly demonstrated her dedication to snow leopards and her expertise in running a non-profit, and I have full confidence in her ability to lead SLC to a bright future.

As I step away from the day-to-day operations, I am taking a new role as President of the Board of Directors, focusing on special projects and fund-raising, and helping Ashleigh and our Board further elevate Snow Leopard Conservancy’s profile as an innovative leader in the conservation of snow leopards and advancement of community livelihoods. Ms. Caroline Gabel of Shared Earth Foundation has served as Board President since our inception as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2010 and will remain on the Board. We express our deep appreciation to Caroline for her Board leadership toward the Conservancy’s growth and successes over the past decade.

I am also pleased to announce that Mr. Raja Bhadury is the incoming Vice President of the Board of Directors, where he will support this leadership transition, drawing from his experience as a technical leader of HP’s global teams. I know that Raja will be a great addition to our Executive Committee, and I look forward to working with him. Please join me and welcome Ashleigh and Raja to their new roles.

We are humbled by your trust and valued support, which has allowed us to expand our partnerships in eight snow leopard range countries since 2000, focusing on saving this magnificent apex predator from retributive killing due to livestock depredation and building coexistence between snow leopards and mountain communities through local, sustainable solutions. Thank you so very much!

Through our collective, compassionate actions, we are helping local people, domestic animals and wildlife live harmoniously in some of the world’s most remote areas. Together, we are ensuring the magnificent Snow Leopard will continue to reign over the high mountains of Asia.

A heartfelt thanks to you all.
