Our special guest for the Conservancy’s April 2021 Earth Day Cat Chat – “Snow Leopards & Conservation Education” was Suraj Upadhaya. As a youth, Suraj was a participant in the Snow Leopard Rangers, a conservation education program for school children through 10th grade. Today, he is working at Iowa State University as a postdoc research associate and teaching in the areas of socio-ecological systems & natural resource management. Suraj is also actively participating in research in the Himalayas through his organization, Himalayan Conservation and Research Institute. He was joined by the Conservancy’s Outreach Manager Shavaun Kidd and Vice President Ashleigh Lutz-Nelson to chat about conservation education and its impact on snow leopard conservation.
