Tsering Angmo and Rigzin Tundup

Angmo lives in Rumbak village in Hemis National Park, Ladakh. Rigzen lives in Ang village, a few hours’ drive west of Leh. Both were enthusiastic participants in the Nature Guide trainings conducted by SLC-India in 2003, and both wanted to be more involved in the Snow Leopard Conservancy’s village-based conservation activities. After an initial training and assessment, Angmo and Rigzin were hired in 2005 to serve as SLC-India’s Education Program Coordinators for Ladakh. Among the activities they conduct during field visits to Ladakh’s remote villages are day long nature walks, slide shows, art and craft activities, and interactive games aimed at instilling an enthusiasm and interest in wildlife and conservation. Rigzen was also trained during the winter of 2006 to monitor wildlife using the CyberTracker.
